Do you ever have trouble coming up with ideas for your social media posts? Do you throw those posts up at the last minute or are they something that you plan weeks months in advance?
Whatever your social media style (or strategy), truth be told: social media pros are dishing out lots and lots of content.
Looking for ways to post more content? Looking for new or fresh ideas for your current pages? Check out these 10 places to find great content for your next social media post.
- Create your own. Share a post from your blog, a copy of your email newsletter, a photo of your latest listing or adventure, or a video you posted to YouTube. You don’t have to reinvent the wheel. Just provide exposure for your existing content.
- Company website. Does your brokerage have a website or a blog? Share an article from the blog or a listing of one of the other agents in the office (if permitted).
- Canva. Canva is a web-based design tool that allows you to easily create images you can share across your social networks. Canva is great because it has social media templates that are sized sized and professionally designed; all you need to do is add a photo. You don’t have to hire any graphic designers to get the job done.
- Text updates. You don’t always need to share photos, videos, or content links with your audience. Sometimes regular text updates will get you better engagement. Check out @Dennysdiner on Twitter; their posts get a lot of interaction and engagement.
- Source your content online. Creating content is great, but sharing someone else’s content is much faster and often more efficient. Check out Buzzsumo, ViralNoval, Upworthy, or Imgur for fun or thought-provoking stuff that you can share.
- Pinterest. Pinterest allows you to follow content hubs (called ‘boards’) that are created by other individuals. You can follow Boards based on the topics you like. Pinterest shows you a feed of all the content they create. You can then share these posts right to your social networks. I always find really great fashion ideas infographics about all aspects of real estate that make really great future posts.
- YouTube. I’m sure you’ve already heard that something like 300+ hours of content is uploaded to YouTube every minute With all of that content readily available, it should be easy to find a video relevant to share with your audience.
- Feedly. Feedly allows you to subscribe to some of your favorite blogs and streams all the new posts into your inbox or through an app on your tablet or smart phone. You can then pull some of your favorite content to share across your social media profiles.
- Reddit. Known as the “front page of the internet,” Reddit has a massive community of users who are constantly adding content. As long as you know how to navigate the topic pages (subreddits), you’ll find that there is plenty of copy to share.
- Invite guests. Consider a strategic alliance and invite guest bloggers to help with your sites. They’ll benefit from increased exposure to your followers, and you’ll benefit from a new piece of social media content.
Consider What Works for You
No two brands have identical social media followings, so what works for the goose may not work for the gander. The key is to share different forms of content, and monitor your followers’ feedback to see what resonates with them. I’m sometimes surprised by what garnishes a chuckle and what posts get completely ignored. Nevertheless, the key is to always be evaluating the engagement. Post. Rinse. Repeat.
